Delete your account
You can delete your own Rinvy account at any time from your Profile, on the web or in the phone app. The delete is permanent. Rinvy removes your sign-in and takes you off every team, but the counts, receipts, prep and waste you recorded stay in each kitchen with your name on them.
Delete the account
Go to your Profile.
- In the Danger zone card, tap Delete account.
- Read the message and tap Delete.

The message warns that you can't undo the delete and that you leave every kitchen you are a member of. When the delete goes through, Rinvy signs you out and opens the sign-in page.
The button works the same way in the iPhone and Android apps. Apple requires App Store apps that let you create an account to also let you start deleting it inside the app (Apple's account deletion guidance). Google Play has the same rule for Android apps (Google Play account deletion requirements).
Why won't Rinvy let me delete my account?
Rinvy refuses the delete when it would leave a kitchen stranded. Nothing is deleted, and a message names each kitchen that blocks you. There are two cases.
You are the only Owner of a kitchen that has other members. Pending invites count as members. The message reads "You are the only owner of Main Street. Make another member an owner, or remove the other members, before you delete your account." Without an Owner, nobody could invite people, change roles or manage billing there. To fix it, open User Management in that kitchen and make someone else an Owner. You can also remove the other members and cancel the pending invites instead. See invite users and change roles.
You run a kitchen alone, and its paid plan will bill again. The message reads "Cancel the paid plan for Main Street in Kitchen Settings before you delete your account." Open Kitchen Settings → Billing, tap Manage plan, and cancel. A plan that is set to end at the close of the billing period no longer blocks the delete.
Some kitchens never block the delete:
- A kitchen with another Owner. The other Owner keeps running it, and its plan keeps billing as before.
- A kitchen you run alone on the Free plan, or on a canceled plan. The kitchen and its records stay in Rinvy with no members. Signing up again doesn't give you access to it, because the new account is not a member.
Rinvy checks these rules at the moment you tap Delete. If two co-owners delete their accounts at the same time, Rinvy handles one delete after the other, so the second person meets the same rules as a last Owner.
What happens to your data
Rinvy removes:
- Your place on every team. You no longer show in the team list, and you no longer count toward the kitchen's user limit. See plan limits.
- Your push notifications. Rinvy forgets your phones, so they stop getting pushes.
- Your sign-in. This applies to Google, Apple and email sign-in. You can't sign in to the old account again. Your Google or Apple account itself is not affected.
- Your email address. Rinvy replaces the stored address with a placeholder on the
.invaliddomain. RFC 2606 reserves that domain for names that are sure to be invalid, so no mail can reach it. Onboarding emails that were waiting to go out are dropped. Team emails, such as the count summary and the weekly review, stop because they go to kitchen members only.
Rinvy keeps:
- The records you made. Counts, receipts, prep, waste and other entries stay in each kitchen. They still show your name, because a kitchen's records must say who did what.
- The kitchens. Deleting your account never deletes a kitchen or its stock, recipes and reports.
Moving to a new email address
Rinvy has no way to change the email on an account, but you don't need to delete anything to switch. In each kitchen, invite the new address as an Owner. The invite counts toward the plan's admin user limit until the old account leaves. Sign in with the new address, and Rinvy adds it to those kitchens. From the new account, remove the old one in User Management, or delete the old account from its own Profile.
Sign up again
You can sign up again with the same email address. Rinvy creates a new, empty account. It is not linked to the old one, so you are not a member of any kitchen. To join a kitchen again, ask an owner to invite you.
If you signed in with Apple, your Apple Account still lists Rinvy after the delete. To remove it, follow Apple's steps to manage the apps you use with Sign in with Apple.
In rare cases the old sign-in survives the delete. Rinvy then shows "This account has been deleted" and won't let you in with that sign-in. Contact support to have it cleared.
